Pete’s Tire Barns was started by Peter A. Gerry in 1968 and has grown to one of the largest independent tire dealerships in the country. Pete’s currently operates 22 full-service locations in New England, a state-of-the art Distribution Center, 3 Bandag retread facilities, employs in excess of 300 people, and operates a fleet of over 100 service and delivery vehicles. Today, approximately 90% of our business is in the commercial truck tire and related markets. Pete's services everything from a wheelbarrow tire up to an earthmover tire.The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of tire operations, including production, safety, quality, maintenance, and team management. This position ensures the store operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all company standards and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong tire knowledge and knowledge of tire retreading processes. We are seeking a candidate with proven ability to drive continuous success in our South Windsor location.Required Experience:Driver's License & clean driving record requiredMinimum of 3 years in the tire industry requiredHigh School Diploma or Equivalent requiredExperience in tire retreading or manufacturing operations requiredMinimum of 5 years of customer service experience requiredMinimum of 3 years of management experience preferredKnowledge of retread manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials is keyRequirements:Manage the daily operations of our South Windsor location, facility, mounted wheel, retreading, and distributionSchedule staffing and manage workloads to meet changing production demandsSupervise, train, and develop staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellenceDirectly supervise and coordinate the activities of all OTR, Earth Mover, and Commercial tire techniciansOptimize workflow, material usage, and labor efficiency to minimize downtime and wasteConduct performance evaluations, coordinate skill development, and lead by example in promoting safety and qualityAssists in selling goods and services to customersManage the store schedule of all servicesDispatch and coordinate service for customers at customer facilities or for road serviceInteract with customers, recommend products and scheduled serviceProcess paperwork and utilize company computer systems to help maintain proper billing and inventoryPerforms duties of tire technician when neededSupport corporate initiatives for efficiency improvement and waste reduction.Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsBasic mathematical skillsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral or diagram formComputer skills: Basic computer skills; training will be provided as neededCommunication skills: Must be good at communicating with customers, employees and vendors in person, on the phone and via electronic tools such as e-mail and text messagingWhat We Offer:Health InsuranceDental InsuranceVision Insurance401k – Pete’s match .25% up to 6% employee contributionVacation – 2 weeks15k Life Insurance – additional coverage may be purchasedEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Physical Demands:Exerts 75 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
