About the Position

Job Title: RN ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating (Days/Eves/Nights) Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU experience License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS & ACLS Must-Have: - Ability to read telemetry strips - Experience in a Level III Trauma Center ICU - Proficiency with EPIC EMR Description: This position is for a Medical/Surgical ICU. The ICU has a bed capacity of 20 and caters to a wide range of adult patients. Patient diagnoses include substance abuse/overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, DKA, sepsis, GI bleed, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. Attendings and residents are present in the ICU 24 hours a day. Float to medical/surgical units will be required, handling up to 4 or 5 patients when floating. Telemetry competency is required. Shifts may include variations such as 7 am-7 pm, 11 am-11 pm, or 7 pm-7 am as needed. The RN to patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other medical/surgical areas. All patients will be included in the care team.
