The Education Programs Coordinator plans, coordinates, and evaluates LTCC’s educational and youth-development programs, including English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, Spanish as a Second Language classes, academic tutoring, summer youth programs, and related community-enrichment activities. Working closely with instructors, tutors, volunteers, students, families, and community partners, the Coordinator ensures programs are welcoming, culturally responsive, well-organized, and aligned with LTCC’s mission. This position manages program schedules, participant enrollment, communications, instructional resources, data collection, and day-to-day program operations. The Coordinator also helps identify opportunities to strengthen and expand programming based on community needs and participant feedback. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Planning and Coordination
- Plan and coordinate educational programs from initial development through implementation, evaluation, and completion.
- Coordinate ESL classes, Spanish as a Second Language classes, academic tutoring, summer youth programs, and other assigned educational or community-enrichment activities.
- Develop program schedules, calendars, timelines, enrollment processes, and implementation plans.
- Coordinate classroom assignments, instructional materials, technology, transportation, meals, field trips, and other program logistics as applicable.
- Work with instructors and program staff to establish program goals, learning objectives, participation expectations, and measures of success.
- Monitor program participation, attendance, progress, challenges, and outcomes, and recommend improvements when needed.
- Ensure instructors, tutors, interns, and volunteers have the information, materials, technology, and support necessary to perform their responsibilities effectively.
- Maintain regular communication with students, parents and guardians, instructors, tutors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for questions concerning enrollment, schedules, program expectations, attendance, and educational services.
- Coordinate orientations, family meetings, recognition activities, field trips, special events, and other program-related gatherings.
- Ensure programs are delivered in a safe, inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive environment.
- Respond appropriately to participant concerns and elevate significant safety, personnel, or programmatic matters to the Executive Director.
- Support instructors and tutors in maintaining consistent, high-quality educational programming.
- Assist participants and families with enrollment, orientation, scheduling, and access to program resources.
- Monitor student attendance and follow up with participants or families when attendance or engagement concerns arise.
- Help connect students and families with additional LTCC services or community resources when needs are identified.
- Support the use of video conferencing platforms, presentations, educational software, computers, and other classroom technology.
- Coordinate assessments, participant surveys, instructor feedback, and other tools used to measure learning and program effectiveness.
- Promote positive relationships among participants, families, instructors, volunteers, and staff.
- Help ensure that activities involving children and youth follow LTCC’s safety, supervision, emergency, and participant-protection procedures.
- Assist with recruiting, orienting, scheduling, and supporting instructors, tutors, interns, and program volunteers.
- Provide day-to-day direction to interns, volunteers, and other individuals assigned to program activities.
- Communicate program procedures, schedules, participant needs, and performance expectations clearly.
- Monitor assigned work and provide timely feedback, coaching, and support.
- Promptly communicate staffing concerns, performance issues, or program needs to the Executive Director.
- Identify community needs and recommend new or expanded educational and youth programs.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with schools, colleges, libraries, community organizations, service providers, and other program partners.
- Assist with outreach and marketing initiatives to increase program awareness, enrollment, and community participation.
- Represent LTCC at outreach activities, community events, meetings, presentations, and collaborative initiatives.
- Gather feedback from participants, families, instructors, and partners to improve program quality and accessibility.
- Ensure all programs support and advance LTCC’s mission, values, strategic priorities, and commitments to the community.
- Maintain accurate and confidential participant records, enrollment documents, attendance records, assessments, consent forms, and other required program documentation.
- Enter and maintain information in LTCC’s databases, spreadsheets, and other data-management systems.
- Track program outputs and outcomes, including enrollment, attendance, retention, participant progress, satisfaction, and completion.
- Compile program data and prepare narrative descriptions for monthly, quarterly, semiannual, annual, and grant-related reports.
- Assist with program evaluations and use findings to recommend operational or programmatic improvements.
- Ensure documentation and services comply with LTCC policies, funding requirements, and applicable confidentiality standards.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical program files.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Welcome community members and provide responsive, professional, and culturally respectful customer service.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and inquiries and connect individuals with the appropriate staff member, department, or community resource.
- Assist community members in accessing LTCC services through the Resource Center.
- Help schedule appointments, consultations, and resource-navigation services as needed.
- Participate in required organizational, program-specific, funding-related, safety, and professional-development training.
- Participate in LTCC fundraising activities, community events, outreach efforts, and public-relations activities.
- Work collaboratively with LTCC staff to support organization-wide initiatives and maintain effective internal communication.
- Follow all LTCC policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, and standards of professional conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the position’s purpose and responsibilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of relevant experience in education, youth development, program coordination, community services, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, including the ability to communicate effectively with participants, families, staff, and community partners.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple programs, schedules, priorities, and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, track program data, and prepare clear written reports.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Gmail, and Google Drive.
- Ability to use or learn virtual meeting platforms, presentation technology, databases, and educational software.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends based on class schedules, summer programming, and community events.
- Ability to satisfy LTCC’s requirements for working with children and youth, including any required background screening.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, nonprofit management, community development, youth development, or a related field.
- Experience coordinating ESL, language-learning, adult-education, tutoring, or youth-development programs.
- Experience supervising or coordinating instructors, tutors, interns, or volunteers.
- Experience working with grant-funded programs and collecting information for performance reports.
- Familiarity with the educational and social-service resources available in Flint and Genesee County.
- First aid, CPR, youth-safety, or mandated-reporter training.

Work Environment
This position is primarily performed in an office, classroom, community center, or program setting with a generally moderate noise level. The employee may occasionally work outdoors during summer youth activities, community events, outreach activities, or neighborhood initiatives and may be exposed to varying weather conditions. The position may involve regular interaction with children, youth, adult learners, families, volunteers, instructors, and community members. Some evening or weekend work may be required depending on program schedules and organizational events.
