Overview

As a Respiratory Therapist in this setting, you'll deliver comprehensive respiratory care in acute, critical, and emergency environments. You'll assess patients, manage invasive and non-invasive ventilators, perform essential diagnostics, support cardiac monitoring, and participate in complex therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities

Respiratory Care & Ventilation

• Perform invasive and non-invasive ventilator management
• Conduct ventilator patient assessments and airway management
• Administer BiPAP therapy, oxygen therapy, and therapeutic respiratory procedures
• Provide CPR and emergency airway interventions

Diagnostics & Monitoring

• Complete arterial blood gases (ABGs), hemodynamic monitoring, and arterial pressure monitoring
• Conduct EKGs, Holter/event monitoring, and cardiac stress tests
• Perform pulmonary function testing, including body plethysmography and FENO
• Assist with EEGs and apnea monitoring

Patient Care & Education

• Deliver compassionate, accurate bedside care
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and therapies
• Participate in respiratory evaluations, re-evaluations, and ongoing assessments

Operational Excellence

• Maintain respiratory and diagnostic equipment, ensuring safety and readiness
• Document care accurately in the hospital electronic system
• Participate in equipment rounds, maintenance checks, and safety protocols
• Support performance improvement initiatives and departmental goals

Qualifications

Certification & Licensure

• Current CRT credential required prior to start; must actively pursue RRT until achieved
• Wisconsin Respiratory Therapy license (within 3 months of hire)
• BLS certification required (within 3 months)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Skills

• Strong communication and clinical reasoning abilities
• Ability to perform detailed diagnostics and emergency interventions
• Proficiency with respiratory and cardiac monitoring equipment
• Clear written and verbal communication in English
