OSIW Peer Educator PLV

Description

Peer Educators offer programming, workshops, and other learning opportunities throughout the year and act as resources for Pace University students. The Pleasantville Office of Sexual and Interpersonal Wellness (OSIW) is seeking to hire Peer Educators for the 2025-2026 academic year and beyond.


Peer Educators provide support and resources for current Pace University students who are or have been impacted by sexual assault and develop on-campus violence prevention initiatives, trainings, and events.

Position Qualifications

• Be dedicated to intimate partner violence prevention programming and education.
• Have general knowledge and understanding of issues of sexual violence and dating, particularly related to current events/trends on college campuses and Title IX.
• Be interested in and passionate about anti-oppressive social justice work.
• Experience and comfort with public speaking, especially on challenging topics.
• Possess organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Be able to collaborate and work as part of a team.
• Prior experience, work, internship, or volunteer experience with issues of any form of intimate partner violence
• Helpful experience: planning and running events, artistic ability (graphic design, drawing, etc.), social media campaigns, prior experience-- work, internship, or volunteer-- with issues of any form of interpersonal violence

Expectation

• Ability to attend an annual 2-day training, preparing Peer Educators to be resources and peer educators on sexual misconduct and related topics.
• Attend one check-in meeting per semester with the Specialist.
• Attend weekly Peer Educator meetings.
• Attend the Office's programming whenever the schedule allows. Depending on the time of year, there may be anywhere from two events per week to two monthly events. This includes daytime and evening events, workshops, and meetings.
• Office hours will required to meet with students, work on event planning, conduct outreach initiatives, and support the Office in other ways.
• Be available for in-person office hours with a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week.
• Meet and support students individually on an as-needed basis.

Compensation

This position provides a $600/semester stipend.
