Rebar Cage AssemblerThe Rebar Cage Assembler is responsible for assembling, tying, positioning, and preparing reinforcing steel cages and related rebar components according to customer specifications, shop drawings, and production requirements. This role supports the fabrication of concrete reinforcing structures by accurately positioning and securing rebar while maintaining established safety, quality, and production standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, physically capable of handling heavy materials, and comfortable performing repetitive hands-on work in a fast-paced production environment. Strong mathematical aptitude, teamwork, and attention to detail are important for success in this role.Rebar Cage AssemblyBuild and assemble reinforcing steel cages using various sizes and configurations of rebar according to customer and production requirementsTie, position, secure, and assemble rebar components to create completed reinforcing structuresFollow shop drawings, work orders, specifications, and production instructions to ensure accurate cage assemblyMeasure and verify rebar placement, spacing, dimensions, and configuration throughout the assembly processEnsure completed assemblies meet customer specifications and company quality standardsAssist with placement and movement of completed rebar cages as requiredSupport daily production goals while maintaining accuracy and workmanshipProduction & Material HandlingRetrieve, stage, organize, and position rebar and other materials required for assigned production workSafely lift, carry, move, and position reinforcing steel and related materialsAssist with loading, unloading, staging, and movement of materials throughout the production areaOperate forklifts, cranes, or other material-handling equipment when trained, certified, and authorizedMaintain efficient material flow throughout assigned work areasIdentify damaged, incorrect, or nonconforming materials and report concerns promptlyDrawings, Measurements & QualityRead and follow shop drawings, blueprints, work orders, and customer specifications as requiredApply basic mathematical concepts when measuring and assembling reinforcing componentsVerify dimensions and completed work before products move to the next stage of productionIdentify assembly discrepancies and communicate concerns to the appropriate Lead or SupervisorSupport quality-control processes designed to minimize rework, material waste, and customer issuesMaintain strong attention to detail throughout the assembly processTools & EquipmentSafely use hand tools, rebar-tying tools, measuring devices, and other approved production equipmentInspect assigned tools and equipment before useMaintain tools and equipment in clean and serviceable conditionReport damaged, malfunctioning, or unsafe equipment promptlyFollow established operating procedures for all machinery and material-handling equipmentSafety & HousekeepingFollow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and PPE standardsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe production environmentFollow proper lifting and material-handling procedures when working with reinforcing steelRemain aware of forklifts, cranes, suspended loads, machinery, and other production hazardsIdentify and report unsafe conditions, injuries, equipment concerns, or near missesParticipate in required safety meetings and trainingPerform additional duties as assignedWhat you'll bring:Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to apply basic math to production workAbility to measure accurately and follow detailed production instructionsAbility to work cooperatively with others to achieve daily production goalsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityStrong work ethic and dependable attendanceAbility to work effectively under production deadlinesGood problem-solving and critical-thinking skillsAbility to organize and prioritize assigned workAbility to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisorsCommitment to workplace safetyWillingness and ability to learn rebar fabrication and cage assembly processesPreferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious manufacturing, production, construction, reinforcing steel, or fabrication experience preferred but not requiredExperience tying or assembling rebar is a plusAbility to read blueprints or shop drawings is preferredKnowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances is a plusForklift or overhead crane experience is preferredExperience using hand tools and production equipment is a plusWork Environment & RequirementsWork is performed primarily in a production, fabrication, or industrial environmentAbility to stand for extended periods throughout the work shiftAbility to frequently bend, stretch, reach, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive physical tasksAbility to lift, carry, push, pull, and position materials weighing up to 80 pounds, using team lifting or mechanical assistance when appropriateFrequent handling of reinforcing steel and other heavy or awkward materialsExposure to production equipment, forklifts, cranes, steel materials, noise, dust, and varying temperaturesAbility to wear required PPE throughout the workdayOvertime or occasional weekend work may be required based on production needsWhat you'll earn:Health Care BenefitsPaid Time OffBenefits for union-represented roles are determined by the applicable collective bargaining agreement and may differ from standard company benefits.QXO is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
