Role Overview

The Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting resilient, scalable, cloud-native applications and platform services that power Connected Consumer and Vehicle experiences. This role combines software engineering and cloud platform expertise, leveraging Java, Spring Boot, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and modern DevOps practices to deliver secure, high-performing solutions that align with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.


The ideal candidate has experience developing microservices, building cloud-native applications, automating infrastructure and deployments, and collaborating across product, architecture, security, and platform teams.


Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications, APIs, and platform services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect and deploy scalable cloud infrastructure and managed services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Product, and Platform Engineering teams to deliver secure, high-availability solutions.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation solutions for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices that support Connected Consumer and Vehicle applications.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable automated testing, deployment, and release management.
• Monitor application and platform performance, proactively scaling resources to meet evolving business needs.
• Implement enterprise security, identity management, data protection, and disaster recovery requirements.
• Design and optimize cloud storage solutions focused on availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
• Develop automated testing strategies and comprehensive test plans to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Support cloud modernization initiatives, including migration of on-premises systems to cloud-native architectures.
• Partner with security teams on threat modeling, vulnerability remediation, and secure software development practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide ongoing application support.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve platform capabilities and engineering efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of software engineering experience developing enterprise applications.
• 2+ years of experience building applications using microservices architecture.
• Strong proficiency in:
  • Java
  • Spring Framework / Spring Boot
  • RESTful API development
  • JUnit and automated testing frameworks
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience building and deploying cloud-native solutions.
• Experience with MongoDB and relational databases.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, and API development.
• Experience with source control and collaborative development using GitHub.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Tekton, or similar tools.
• Working knowledge of cloud networking, authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
• Experience with JSON, Swagger/OpenAPI, API testing, and API lifecycle management.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to work effectively within Agile development teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with:
  • PostgreSQL

  • Python scripting
  • OAuth / OpenID Connect authentication
  • Kubernetes and container-based architectures
  • Terraform or Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks
• Experience with cloud cost optimization and operational excellence initiatives.
• Familiarity with:
  • SonarQube
  • Checkmarx
  • Dynatrace
  • Jira
  • Postman or Hoppscotch
• Experience implementing canary deployments and modern release strategies.
• Exposure to platform engineering or internal developer platform initiatives.
