The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes across plastic injection molding and metal stamping operations. This role owns process capability, tooling performance, and production efficiency, working cross-functionally with Quality, Tooling, Maintenance, and Production to ensure parts are manufactured safely, on-spec, and at optimal cost.As a member of our Manufacturing Engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to work on innovative projects that directly enhance our production capabilities and drive continuous improvement across our facilities. This role offers the chance to work alongside skilled professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and support the growth of a company that is a leader in safety solutions.Process Development & OptimizationDesign, develop, and validate manufacturing processes for injection molded plastic parts and stamped metal components (progressive dies, transfer dies, secondary operations)Optimize molding parameters (fill, pack, hold, cooling) and stamping parameters (tonnage, feed, die protection) to maximize quality, cycle time, and OEELead DOE (Design of Experiments) studies to establish and document robust process windowsDevelop and maintain process control plans, work instructions, and setup sheetsNew Product / Program LaunchSupport new product introduction (NPI) from DFM review through PPAP/production trialPartner with tooling engineers and toolmakers on mold/die design reviews, sampling, and tryoutConduct capability studies (Cpk/Ppk) and first-article inspections to validate new processes and toolingContinuous ImprovementDrive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to reduce scrap, downtime, and cycle timeLead root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) for process-related quality escapes and production issuesIdentify and justify capital improvement projects (automation, tooling upgrades, equipment)Tooling & EquipmentTroubleshoot mold, die, and press-related issues in coordination with tooling/maintenance teamsManage preventive maintenance schedules for tooling and coordinate repairs to minimize downtimeEvaluate and specify new equipment, tooling, and automation (robotics, EOAT, sensors)Quality & ComplianceSupport PPAP, control plans, FMEA, and APQP documentationEnsure processes comply with IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirementsInvestigate customer complaints and internal nonconformances tied to process performanceCross-Functional CollaborationTrain production operators and technicians on process parameters and standard workWork with Supply Chain on material specifications, resin/metal substitutions, and cost reductionCommunicate process status, risks, and improvement plans to plant leadershipYour Skills and ExpertiseTo ensure your success from day one in this role, Justrite requires the following qualifications at a minimum:Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Plastics, or related discipline)Minimum 3 years of process engineering experience in plastics injection molding and/or metal stamping manufacturing environmentHands-on knowledge of injection molding machine setup/troubleshooting (Cpk, scientific molding) and/or progressive/transfer die stamping pressesExperience with capability studies, SPC, FMEA, control plans, and PPAP documentationProficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for tooling/process reviewStrong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why)Working knowledge of GD&T and blueprint readingAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Experience with both plastics and metal stamping processes (cross-trained background highly desirable)Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certificationFamiliarity with automation/robotics integration and PLC basicsExperience in automotive, appliance, or industrial component manufacturingWorking knowledge of IATF 16949 quality systemsCompensationActual base salaries will vary and may be above or below the recommended pay range based on factors such as but not limited to location, relevant experience and performance.
