Work Environment The position is located onsite at our outpatient office in Newport News, Virginia. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement tailored physical therapy interventions aimed at preventing disabilities, alleviating pain, and restoring optimal physical function based on individual treatment plans. Conduct assessments using diagnostic and prognostic tests to evaluate patients’ muscle, nerve, joint, and functional capabilities. Supervise and mentor physical therapy assistants, ensuring efficient execution of treatment plans while maintaining clinical safety and standards. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to develop, review, and update comprehensive care plans that enhance patient outcomes. Provide hands-on physical therapy services, including manual therapeutic exercises, guidance for non-manual exercises, and functional activity facilitation, directly influencing patient rehabilitation. Evaluate, fit, and modify prosthetic and orthotic devices to meet patient needs effectively. Maintain detailed clinical records, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, with a commitment to documentation accuracy to support optimal patient care. Engage actively in interdisciplinary case conferences and contribute valuable insights to enrich treatment plans for our patients. Instruct patients and their families on the proper use and care of physical therapy devices and their home exercise programs, enhancing community engagement in their rehabilitation. Provide educational resources and consultations to both patients and families, promoting understanding of the therapeutic process. Stay updated with the latest rehabilitation techniques and evidence-based practices to ensure the highest level of patient care and service delivery. Patient Population / Client Focus You will primarily work with patients experiencing orthopedic challenges, including post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, and chronic pain conditions. Our approach is comprehensive, focusing on the whole patient experience, ensuring that the care provided addresses both physical recovery and emotional support. Qualifications A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited institution. One (1) year of clinical experience as a physical therapist in acute care or home care settings. Current, valid PT licensure and CPR certification in the state of Virginia, maintaining in good standing. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on patient and family engagement throughout the treatment journey. Dedication to clinical excellence, demonstrating a proactive approach to patient care and safety. Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare setting. Proficient understanding of federal, state, and professional regulations pertaining to physical therapy practice. Preferred Experience Experience in outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation processes. Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Compensation and Benefits This full-time position offers a competitive salary in the range of USD 90,000 to 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
