About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years preferred 3 years in a high-volume, fast-paced labor and delivery setting License: Active Nursing License Certifications: BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP Must-Have: Must have experience with over 300 births per month Double labor assignments are a daily occurrence on the unit Experience in a high-risk obstetric setting is essential Unit is very fast-paced and busier than usual Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and is not permitted to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in cancellation. This is a difficult and fast-paced unit with high patient volume. Unit will accept first-time travelers, but candidates should have experience in similar high-volume settings. Strongly prefer RNs with circulating experience in the operating room. Patient ratios are 2:1, with an average of 20 births in 24 hours. There are 30-40 admissions and approximately 40 visits per day. The unit has 20 rooms available for patient care. Night shifts require working every other weekend with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. The patient population includes obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for all intrapartum care, as well as high-risk antepartum and postpartum care. Special procedures include scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and cervical cerclage. Unit orientation is 24 hours long, focusing on unit-specific systems and protocols. Candidates may be required to float to a high-risk OB unit as needed. Good charting skills, specifically in electronic health record systems. Unit staffing will include interdisciplinary support services. This role requires strong collaboration and communication skills among the health care team. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to handle a high-acuity work environment effectively.
