Composite Fabrication Specialist Company: The Boeing Company, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA). We are seeking Composite Fabrication Specialists (Level B or C) to assist with multiple areas of the 787 production system in North Charleston, South Carolina on a variable shift. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Must successfully complete the new hire foundational training to obtain and maintain all required certifications. Proficient use of a computer in a dynamic production environment. Look up/read/comprehend electronic technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications. Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task performed. Operate various mechanical lifts (e.g. ladders, tiger and snorkel lifts). Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers, ratchets, power screwdriver, multimeters, continuity testers. Apply chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes. Inspect work quality and check for Foreign Object Debris. Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise. Finger manipulation (keyboarding, other). Lifting and carrying up to 10–35 pounds. Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), crawling, crouching (squatting). Flexion/Extension (head bent down, head bent back), handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching (overhead), rotation of head/neck, standing, twisting at the waist and walking. Experience with conventional material layup, precision measuring, power, pneumatic and hand tools. Ability to obtain CNC Experience. Basic Qualifications Must have the ability to work variable shifts (first, second, or third) based on business needs. Must be able to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6–8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel. Must be able to lift/carry up to 35 pounds; push/pull using up to 45 pounds of force; and reach overhead up to six hours per day. Must be able to work with high‑hazard chemicals using proper protective equipment provided. Must be able to complete and maintain Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications, if required. 1+ year experience using software applications such as internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and/or other specialized computer applications. 1+ year experience following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, along with successful completion of training and knowledge assessments involving mathematical calculations, all conducted in English. 1+ year experience in a manufacturing, technical, or mechanical field, including equivalent education or military experience, performing work with basic hand, power, and/or pneumatic (air) tools. 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly processes and procedures. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, technical, or mechanical field, including equivalent education or military service. 3+ years of CNC experience. 3+ years of experience with conventional material layup, precision measuring, power, pneumatic and hand tools. 3+ years of crane operations experience. 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematic and diagrams in aviation. Shift & Schedule Variable shift (Shift 4). Candidates will be placed on a shift at the time of hire based on business needs and remain on that shift until re‑evaluation. Pay & Benefits Pay ranges: Level B $54,000 – $64,000; Level C $61,200 – $64,500.
