OSP Heavy Equipment Operator

Location: 100% Travel (Nationwide Project Assignments)

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role:

We're seeking a skilled OSP (Outside Plant) Heavy Equipment Operator to support underground telecommunications construction projects nationwide. In this role, you'll operate excavators, backhoes, trenchers, directional bore rigs, and other heavy machinery to install and maintain fiber and telecom infrastructure. What You'll Do:

• Operate excavators, backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, and/or directional boring equipment to support OSP construction
• Dig, trench, and restore right-of-way areas per project specifications
• Work from route maps, prints, and locate markings to avoid damaging existing utilities
• Perform routine equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with plow operators, laborers, and crew leads to keep projects moving on schedule
• Follow all safety protocols, including trenching and excavation safety standards
• Travel to job sites across the country as project needs require

What We're Looking For:

• 1+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in an OSP, utility, or underground construction environment
• Experience with excavators, vermeer, braun 250 & 175, backhoes, trenchers, and/or directional boring equipment
• Understanding of utility locating and damage prevention practices
• Valid driver's license; CDL a plus
• Ability to read construction prints, route maps, and staking instructions
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
• Strong safety mindset, mechanical aptitude, and reliability
• Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time, including extended stays
