The technical lead comes up with innovative solutions for business and technical problems, creates and maintains technical specifications, as well as anticipates and acts upon issues that arise, providing alternate approaches and solutions, communicates decisions clearly, and sets the standard for highest quality of work.What you'll doParticipates in all phases of the software development lifecycle and is responsible for the application design Designs, develops, and implements largescale, highly available applicationsCollaborates with the architect to define the technical roadmap for the product, provide design and technical governance, and dictate technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platformsEvaluates product requirements and proposes solutions considering the product's vision and the technology roadmapWorks closely with architecture to ensure decisions meet long term enterprise growth needsCompletes appropriate documentation for technical designs, processes engineering, and project decisionsBuilds tools and patterns to accelerate development and deliveryResearches and implements new technologies and solutions to enhance current processes, security, and performanceDevelops cross departmental services and applications in coordination with IT's central architecture teamActs as the technical subject matter expert (SME) on the productEvaluates new technologies and tools, leads POCs to prove new ideas, and champions good design practicesMentors and coaches team members related to architecture, design, development, build, deployment, and maintenance of systems.Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues, and identifies and implements solutionsCollaborates with production operations department to ensure deployments roll out smoothly and customer group support is metWorks extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed in order to support the operationAll you'll need for successMinimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training5 years of experience delivering SDLC solutions using ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologiesPreferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job ExperienceMaster's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training8+ years of experience delivering SDLC solutions using ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologies3+ years of experience providing technical leadershipAirline industry experience, including Sabre, business processes, and supporting technologiesSkills, Licenses & CertificationsKnowledge and experience with the following: Java SE, Java EE, or SpringObject Oriented design principlesJava/Java EE design patterns, SOA principles and patterns, EAI patterns, and UMLRelational databasesMicroservices architecture and JavaScript MVC frameworksDiagnostics/Testing Tools, such as Splunk, Dynatrace, LISA, and SOAP UIWell versed in application design, development, automated testing and delivery in an agile environmentStrong understanding of PCI, SOX, PII, and security processes and standardsFamiliarity with software configuration management/build processesAbility to document the existing environment and develop the strategy and tasks to prepare for changes to the design, describing the technical functions, as well as the business functions involvedAbility to generate technical roadmapsAbility to train and mentor team membersAbility to accurately investigate and document the details of the current and future systemExcellent analytical and technical problem solving skillsExperience working with Agile methodologies and toolsExperience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including TDD (test driven development), Continuous Integration, and Continuous DeploymentDemonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environmentsAbility to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment and leverage best practicesAbility to think strategically and develop tactical methods to achieve objectives and goalsAbility to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, customers, and external groups, as well as working in a collaborative environment with geographically dispersed resourcesAbility to foster and maintain productive working relationships with 3rd party vendors, including Sabre and DXCProven ability to keep multiple complex efforts moving forward quickly while exercising an appropriate level of disciplineWhat you'll getFeel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
