Job Description

This role leads daily production operations in a custom manufacturing environment, overseeing approximately 12–15 employees across Finishing, Graining, and Packaging. The Manufacturing Supervisor coordinates production schedules, allocates labor, and monitors workflow to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. The position collaborates closely with Fabrication, CNC/Digital Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, and other teams, and plays a key role in maintaining a safe workplace, driving continuous improvement, developing employees, and ensuring products meet customer quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of approximately 12–15 production employees across Finishing, Graining, and Packaging operations.

• Schedule and assign daily and weekly production activities to meet customer demand and delivery commitments.

• Coordinate staffing and labor resources to align with changing production priorities and workloads.

• Monitor productivity, quality, and on-time delivery performance, and take corrective actions when needed.

• Enforce safety standards, personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance, and training requirements to maintain a safe work environment.

• Conduct coaching, performance reviews, and employee development activities to build skills and improve team performance.

• Investigate safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

• Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation to support operational tracking and decision-making.

• Support inventory management and material planning efforts to ensure adequate materials and supplies for production.

• Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.

• Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to improve manufacturing processes and standard work practices.

• Collaborate with Fabrication, CNC/Digital Manufacturing, Procurement, Inventory, and other cross-functional teams to achieve production goals.

• Drive quality standards, perform or support root cause analysis, and lead continuous improvement and productivity initiatives.

• Oversee finishing-related activities such as coating, painting, polishing, or other surface-treatment operations when required.

• Utilize ERP systems, including SAP, for production planning, inventory management, material transactions, and manufacturing reporting.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience.

• Prior supervisory, lead, or management experience in a production environment.

• 3–5+ years of production supervision and team leadership, leading manufacturing teams of 10 or more employees, including coaching, performance management, training, and workforce development.

• 3–5+ years of manufacturing operations and production scheduling experience, including coordinating daily production activities, assigning work, balancing labor resources, and meeting production deadlines.

• 3–5+ years of safety management and regulatory compliance experience, including enforcing safety policies, conducting safety training, investigating incidents, and maintaining a safe manufacturing environment.

• 3–5+ years of quality control and continuous improvement experience, including driving quality standards, root cause analysis, process improvements, standard work development, and productivity initiatives.

• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide production teams.

• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to changing production demands.

• Experience with production scheduling and workforce coordination.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Experience in operations management, supervision, and manufacturing processes.

• Experience with metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing environments.

• Familiarity with CNC machine operation or coordination with CNC operations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using SAP ERP systems, including 3–5+ years utilizing SAP for production planning, inventory management, material transactions, and manufacturing reporting.

• Finishing department leadership experience, including 3–5+ years supervising finishing, coating, painting, polishing, or surface-treatment operations within a manufacturing environment.

• Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement experience, including 3–5+ years implementing Lean principles, 5S, waste reduction, and process improvement initiatives.

• Experience in metal fabrication, architectural products, or architectural metals manufacturing, including 3–5+ years working with sheet metal, custom manufacturing, or industrial production processes.

• 3–5+ years of experience in inventory, procurement, and materials management, including coordinating raw materials, consumables, tooling, stock inventory, vendor relationships, and production material flow.

• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.

• Experience in quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.

• n cross-functional manufacturing coordination with Engineering, Fabrication, CNC, Procurement, Inventory, and Operations teams.

Work Environment

The role is based in a metal shop environment in Livermore, working around sheet metal, fabrication processes, finishing operations, and CNC or digital manufacturing equipment. The setting involves typical industrial conditions, including noise, machinery, and material handling, requiring consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures. The position collaborates closely with Fabrication, CNC/Digital Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations teams on the production floor and in office settings where ERP systems, including SAP, and Microsoft Office tools are used for planning and reporting. Working hours align with standard manufacturing schedules, with flexibility needed to support production demands and ensure on-time delivery.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Livermore, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $53.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
