Varsity Wrestling Assistant Coach

Summary Reed City High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to assist the Varsity Wrestling program for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wrestling and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position requires effective communication skills, a strong understanding of wrestling techniques, and the ability to motivate and guide young athletes. Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and implementing daily practice sessions and training programs.
• Provide instruction on wrestling techniques, strategies, and conditioning to student-athletes.
• Help monitor the academic progress of wrestlers and promote a balance between athletics and academics.
• Support the organization and execution of team events, including competitions, fundraisers, and community outreach activities.
• Maintain a safe and positive training environment by enforcing safety protocols and sportsmanship standards.
• Assist in the preparation of athletes for competitions, including weight management and mental readiness.
• Collaborate with the head coach to evaluate athlete performance and provide feedback for improvement.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team policies and expectations.
• Attend all practices, competitions, and team meetings as required.

Requirements

• Previous experience in wrestling, either as a competitor or coach, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of wrestling techniques and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the wrestling season.
• A commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
