JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Gastroenterologist • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Longview, TX • Service Setting: Inpatient • Coverage Type: Call Only • Coverage Period: Oct 2-12, 2026 • On-Call Shift Schedule: 24-hour call coverage ;7a - 7a • Call Type: Beeper • Call Response Time: 30 minutes PATIENT INFORMATION • Admissions: Required • Case Mix: Gastroenterology - inpatient consults, ED consults, and transfers FACILITY INFORMATION • Trauma Level: Level 3 • EMR System: Athena / Medhost • Support Staff Available: PA/NPs: 1 m-f • Reason for Coverage: Vacation PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Temporary Privileges Available: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES Required: Upper GI endoscopy (with biopsy, with foreign body removal, with fulguration of bleeder (cautery vs. laser), With injection of varices, Diagnostic, Therapeutic, With PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy Esophageal dilatation/manometry (Esophageal manometry interpretation) Small Bowel biopsy Lower GI endoscopy (Sigmoidoscopy (Flexible, Rigid), Colonoscopy (with biopsy, with excision of polyp Liver biopsy Insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube Preferred: ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Licensed in TX • Board: Certified in Gastroenterology • Certifications: ACLS • Other Qualifications: Fellowship required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide inpatient gastroenterology call coverage • Manage ED consults and patient transfers • Perform advanced GI procedures including endoscopy and ERCP • Handle admissions related to GI cases • Respond within required call response time
