Job Description
Title: Milieu Counselor - Inpatient Psychiatry

Schedule:
- Shift: 8 hours, Rotating (7am-3:30pm; 3pm-11:30pm; 11pm-7:30am)
- Must work every other weekend and major holiday.

Assignment Details:
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements:
- High school diploma required; B.A., B.S., or M.A. preferred or equivalent years of human service experience.
- Current AHA BLS certification required.
- Prior human services, behavioral, or psychiatric experience preferred; inpatient psychiatric experience is preferred.
- Up to date resume reflecting 1-2 years of experience in milieu counseling.
- 2 recent references from Charge RN/Manager/Supervisor matching specialty.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, laundry, toileting, and organizing patient rooms.
- Perform regular safety checks and participate in leading or co-leading patient groups.
- Conduct 1:1 meetings with patients, chart vital signs, and document intake and output.
- Notify registered nurse of any changes in patient conditions or vital signs.

Compliance / Notes:
- Must complete a job-specific physical test.
- Flu vaccine required during season.
- Must float to other units as needed.
