Job Overview:   The Trinitas Medical Surgical Unit, 6 South, provides care to postoperative patients as well as stabilized ventilator dependent patients. The unit offers 22 rooms, 6 of which are single bedded, and can accommodate up to 38 patients, depending on the number of stabilized ventilator dependent patients occupying specific rooms. The RWJBarnabas Health New Graduate RN Residency Program is a one-year program that provides new graduate RN's with a safe, caring, supportive and robust learning environment. Our goal is to allow new graduate nurses the opportunity to gain additional clinical competencies  to achieve a stress-free transition from student to professional practice. Highlights of our program include:

• Preceptor and new nurse relationship-guided transition support. 
• Continuing education and ongoing enhancement of professional development. 
• Specialty-specific foundation courses were developed to reflect the scope and standards of practice. 
• Application of professional accountability and ethical practice inherent in the role of the registered nurse. 
• Recognition of the effects of skilled nursing practice on patient safety, quality and satisfaction. 
• Self-care focus, to maintain a safe and fulfilling nursing practice, for both the nurse and patient. 
• Mentorship to support the new graduate nurse through their first year of practice and beyond. 
• New graduates are hired in the area of specialty to enhance their specialty education experience from day one.

Scheduling Requirements : 

• Full Time
• Night Shift
• 7p-7:30a
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation 

Qualifications : 

• Active New Jersey RN License or pending RN license (with completed NCLEX exam) required 
• New Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with less than 6 months of RN experience is required 
• ASN or BSN required 
• AHA BLS prior to start date required 
• Career interest in Cardiac Care and/or Telemetry specialties is highly preferred
