Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Telemetry setting with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, serving an adolescent through geriatric population
• Manage a moderate to heavy volume of orthopedic surgical cases, including total joint replacement patients, in addition to general medical-surgical patients
• Perform cardiac monitoring responsibilities including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, and remote telemetry monitoring
• Carry out advanced IV therapy skills including blood product administration, central line care and management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Administer and manage heparin protocols and cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration); provide pre/post care for cardiac angiogram, MI, cardiac cath, and cardiac surgery patients
• Manage respiratory support modalities including chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy, and non-invasive airway management; utilize Rapid Response Teams as appropriate

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience required; prior travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers will not be considered)
• California clinical experience required
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Total joint orthopedic experience required; ability to read cardiac rhythm strips required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
• Must pass an Advanced EKG exam (80% minimum passing score; up to two attempts permitted) prior to start; failure results in assignment cancellation
• Every other weekend coverage expected; no on-call requirement
• Local candidates are welcome and will be considered at the travel rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with post-cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization patient populations
• Familiarity with Emerson/Pleuravac chest tube systems
• Experience with high-acuity respiratory management including HFNC and tracheostomy care
