As a Lab Technician - Flow Cell Manufacturing, you will play a critical role in producing and supporting high-quality flow cells, reagents, and consumable products that enable cutting-edge life sciences applications. You'll work alongside scientists, engineers, and manufacturing teams while gaining exposure to automated liquid handling systems, process improvement initiatives, and regulated manufacturing practices. This position will train on the 1st shift for a few weeks, 9:00am-5:30pm but then will transfer to the 2nd shift 2:00pm-10:30pm. Key Responsibilities * Perform manufacturing and quality activities in accordance with established SOPs, work instructions, and batch records. * Prepare reagents, buffers, and solutions according to documented specifications while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and traceability. * Operate and maintain automated liquid handling platforms, including Opentrons and Hamilton Star/Starlet systems. * Utilize laboratory equipment such as UV-Vis spectrophotometers, pH meters, conductivity meters, vacuum ovens, and vacuum pumps to support production and quality verification activities. * Accurately perform liquid handling using single and multi-channel pipettes. * Assemble, package, and inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality requirements. * Support inventory management through cycle counts, work order processing, and material tracking activities. * Identify production or process issues, communicate concerns proactively, and participate in troubleshooting efforts. * Collect and document quality data, communicate results, and support investigations when required. * Maintain equipment, perform routine upkeep, and assist with calibration activities. * Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including 6S and manufacturing process optimization. * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. * Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Process Development, Quality, and R&D teams. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, Biology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or production environment preferred. * Hands-on experience preparing buffers, reagents, and laboratory solutions. * Experience working with SOPs, batch records, and controlled documentation. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment. * Working knowledge of GDP, GLP, and/or cGMP principles. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word. * Ability to learn new equipment, processes, and systems in a rapidly evolving environment. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, diagnostics, or consumable manufacturing. * Hands-on experience with automated liquid handling systems such as Hamilton or Opentrons platforms. * Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP, or MRP systems. * Experience operating analytical instruments, including UV-Vis spectrophotometers, pH meters, and conductivity meters. * Experience with surface chemistry applications or manufacturing workflows. * Exposure to GMP-regulated manufacturing environments. * Previous involvement in continuous improvement, Lean, or 6S initiatives. Work Environment This position operates within a biotechnology manufacturing laboratory supporting the production of flow cells and related consumables. Team members work with automated liquid handling systems, analytical instrumentation, and manufacturing equipment while following GMP, quality, and safety requirements. The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and focused on delivering high-quality products that support innovative scientific applications. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.50/hr.
