Accounting Supervisor

Job Description Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Financial Operations Oversight Supervise daily accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments. Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and company policies. Monitor cash flow and assist with cash management activities. Oversee expense tracking and cost allocations. 2. Month-End & Year-End Close Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Review and validate account reconciliations. Ensure timely completion of closing schedules and reporting deadlines. Prepare and review financial statements and support schedules. Coordinate year-end activities including audit preparation and documentation. 3. Financial Reporting Prepare internal financial reports for management review. Assist in preparation of external financial statements. Analyze financial data and provide variance analysis. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities in financial performance. 4. Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies. Develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures. Assist with internal and external audits. Ensure proper documentation and record retention practices. Maintain compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. 5. Budgeting & Forecasting Assist in preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Monitor departmental budgets and expenditure. Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. 6. Leadership & Staff Development Supervise, train, and mentor accounting team members. Assign workloads and monitor performance. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching. Promote professional development and cross-training. Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment. 7. Systems & Process Improvement Recommend improvements to accounting processes and systems. Assist in ERP implementation or upgrades. Ensure proper use and maintenance of accounting software. Identify automation opportunities to increase efficiency. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise accounting staff. Responsible for hiring recommendations, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Ensures team adherence to company policies and deadlines. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (required). CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification (preferred). Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience. Minimum 2–5 years of supervisory experience. Experience with migration. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of GAAP (or IFRS if applicable). Experience with Dynamic 365 central ERP/accounting systems Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of internal controls and financial reporting. Successful completion of month-end/year-end close within deadlines. Continuous improvement of accounting processes.
