Nursery / Finishing Worker The Nursery / Finishing Worker is responsible for daily pig care, feed and water checking, barn sanitation, and routine animal health care at 4N and Valley View. This position works under the direction of the Site Manager to maintain animal health, clean facility conditions, and follow all safety and biosecurity rules. Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities 1. Daily Care & Animal Health Perform daily barn walkthroughs to check pig health, feed, and water availability. Identify sick or injured pigs, move them to hospital pens, and give vaccinations/treatments as directed. Assist with pig movement, sorting, loading, and unloading. 2. Barn Maintenance & Cleanliness Clean, power wash, and disinfect pens and barns between groups of pigs. Perform basic maintenance checks on feeders, waters, gates, and ventilation systems. Keep farm grounds and working areas clean, safe, and organized. 3. Biosecurity & Safety Follow all biosecurity protocols (shower-in/shower-out, boot changes, clean clothing). Follow safety rules when handling equipment, tools, and treatments. Report any facility issues, feed shortages, or safety concerns immediately to the Site Manager. 4. Teamwork & Communication Work cooperatively with coworkers and supervisors to complete daily tasks. Complete daily task logs or treatment records accurately. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude on the job. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, bend, or kneel for long periods. Ability to work in swine barn environments (dust, odors, animal noise, and varying temperatures). Willingness to work assigned hours, including weekend rotations as scheduled. Qualifications Previous experience working with livestock or in swine production preferred, but willing to train. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions reliably. Dependable work ethic, strong attendance, and ability to work well in a team environment. Niewohner Farms
