Staff Accountant

Junior Staff AccountantOur client is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build upon their experience in reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities within the mortgage banking industry. The Junior Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, assist with month-end close, and work closely with Senior Accounting team members on special projects and ad hoc requests.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and manage the accounting department inboxPerform bank reconciliations and account reconciliationsPrepare and post journal entriesAssist with month-end close activities (5-day monthly close; approximately 9-day quarterly close)Escalate non-routine accounting issues to appropriate team membersSupport the Senior Accountant with ad hoc projects and reporting requestsUtilize accounting and reporting tools including:Fiserv Prologue (ERP)Encompass (Loan Operating System)ExcelPower BIRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field1-3 years of accounting experienceHands-on experience with:Bank reconciliationsAccount reconciliationsJournal entriesStrong Excel skills, including:Pivot TablesVLOOKUPsMortgage industry experiencePreferred QualificationsExperience using Power BIInterview ProcessVirtual InterviewFinal Onsite InterviewIf you're looking to take the next step in your accounting career and gain exposure to a dynamic mortgage accounting environment, we encourage you to apply!
