Job Description for Certified Medication Aide (CMA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Position Overview: A Certified Medication Aide (CMA) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a critical role in providing direct care to patients in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, and other healthcare settings. They are responsible for assisting patients with daily activities, providing comfort, and administering medications as prescribed under the supervision of a nurse or physician. Common Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer Medications: Assist patients with taking prescribed medications according to the schedule set by healthcare providers. Ensure proper documentation of medications administered. Monitor patients for any side effects or reactions to medications and report to the supervising nurse. Provide Personal Care: Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Help patients with mobility, transferring them from beds to chairs, or assisting with walking. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene for patients. Monitor Patient Health: Take vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate. Observe and report changes in the patient's condition to the nursing staff. Help with the recording of intake and output for patients. Patient Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, medications administered, and any changes in patient condition. Update patient records as required by the facility's policies. Assist with Treatment Plans: Follow care plans created by nurses or physicians.
