Child & Online Safety Expert

Role Overview

Help shape AI safety tools for young people by applying clinical, crisis-care, and online child-safety expertise to a high-impact project. You will develop a mental-health safety evaluation framework for vulnerable youth in digital environments, contributing real-world input that helps AI systems learn, reason, and respond more safely. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop taxonomies for self-harm, suicide prevention, eating disorders, and emotional dependency in digital contexts.
• Set best-practice standards for digital support and clinical safety involving youth and adolescent mental health.
• Create detection frameworks to identify, flag, and evaluate harmful online content or advice related to mental-health crises affecting minors.
• Design and refine clinical response rubrics and escalation protocols for at-risk individuals in digital environments.
• Work with project leads to ground evaluation benchmarks and guidelines in current research and clinical best practices.
• Provide expertise on CSAM-adjacent policy and online exploitation dynamics to strengthen digital child-safety protocols.
• Deliver clear, actionable written and verbal feedback that informs the continued development of AI safety tools and frameworks.

Qualifications

• Licensed therapist, psychiatrist, clinician, or mental-health professional with direct crisis-care experience.
• At least 5 years of focused experience in adolescent mental health, suicide prevention, eating-disorder intervention, or a related field. Senior contributors with 8 to 20 years of experience are welcome.
• Demonstrated expertise in clinical risk assessment and intervention in digital or online settings.
• Advanced degree, specialized certification, or equivalent operational experience in mental-health or child-safety domains.
• Experience evaluating or implementing CSAM-adjacent policies, or supporting child online-exploitation prevention initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make complex information clear for varied audiences.
• A credible, established record of impact in clinical, crisis-response, or safety-evaluation communities.

Work Terms

• Remote contract engagement.
• Independent contractor role.

Compensation

• $50 to $90 per hour.
