Special agents conduct investigations independently or in conjunction with municipal, county, or other law enforcement personnel to gather all necessary evidence to ensure the apprehension and conviction of suspected felons. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: To be minimally qualified for employment as a special agent I or II, an applicant must: Have a completed bachelor's degree. In lieu of a completed bachelor's degree, law enforcement experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis Not have a felony conviction Be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment Possess or have the ability to obtain a South Dakota driver's license Be able to meet all minimum standards for law enforcement officer employment and certification at time of appointment, as codified in Administrative Rule chapter 2:01:02 ( ).
