Psychiatric Nurse

Psychiatric RN – Local to Denver or Canon City | Correctional Nursing Opportunity Looking for a meaningful local nursing opportunity where your psychiatric expertise can make an impact? We are seeking experienced Psychiatric RNs for correctional healthcare facilities in Denver and Canon City, Colorado. Nurses will provide care within Therapeutic Community and Residential Treatment Units, supporting patients through stabilization, treatment, and intervention. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with block scheduling and 13-hour, 20-minute shifts (40 hours per week for full time hours). This is a one year assignment. Available locations include: Denver Women’s Correctional Facility in Denver Centennial Correctional Facility in Cañon City This program will provide seven-day psychiatric nursing coverage within specialized treatment units serving individuals with Substance Use Disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions. Nurses will administer routine, emergency, and involuntary medications; monitor medication compliance; provide patient education; facilitate prescribed individual and group sessions; participate in multidisciplinary treatment meetings; and perform urine testing when needed What you Bring : 5 years of dedicated, verifiable psychiatric nursing experience Specialized experience working with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and substance-related conditions Experience with withdrawal management Comfortable working with correctional patients in a jail or prison setting Correctional nursing experience is a plus Strong clinical assessment, crisis-management, and patient-care skills Active, unencumbered Colorado RN license or active multistate RN license authorizing practice in Colorado, subject to approval Nursing license must have no stipulations, restrictions, or reprimands Ability to provide verifiable psychiatric nursing experience Willingness to commit to a one-year or longer contract Minimum Qualifications : Active, unencumbered RN license in Colorado or multistate license in a compact state At least five years of nursing experience Dedicated, verifiable inpatient psychiatric nursing experience Proven clinical experience working with individuals diagnosed with Substance Use Disorders Ability to complete CDOC background screening, fingerprinting, required online training, Use of Force training, and four-day Defensive Tactics training Ability to comply with CDOC policies, including HIPAA, PREA, consent-to-search, contraband, and facility security requirements Interested nurses must provide a current resume, three professional references, preferred location, full-time or part-time preference, availability, and details describing their inpatient psychiatric and SUD experience. Qualified candidates will also be asked to sign a Letter of Commitment confirming their present intent to work on the project. This is a contingent opportunity and is not an immediate assignment or guarantee of employment. Contract start would accrue on or around 12/31/26. Selected nurses will receive the finalized compensation, schedule, location, start date, and assignment terms before signing their final assignment agreement. Local Opportunity. Meaningful Work. Please note: Significant psychiatric nursing experience with exposure to substance-related disorders and withdrawal management is required.
