POSITION SUMMARY

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing photovoltaic (PV) solar electrical systems while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable electrical codes, company standards, and project specifications. This position serves as a technical leader in the field, working collaboratively with project teams to deliver high-quality solar installations and exceptional customer service.

In addition to performing skilled electrical work, the Journeyman Electrician provides day-to-day guidance, training, and mentorship to Apprentice Electricians, helping develop their technical skills, reinforce safe work practices, and promote professional growth. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, integrity, accountability, and a positive, team-oriented attitude while contributing to a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

This position supports GenPro’s upcoming Colorado solar portfolio beginning in January 2027, with project sites in Weld County and the Greeley, Windsor, Fort Collins, and Loveland areas. Travel to other project sites may be required as business needs require.

PAY, TRAVEL & BENEFITS

A high-demand trade deserves a strong total package.

• Base wage: $35.47 - 40.00 per hour, based on experience and electrical licensing. Base wage is paid for travel days.
• Prevailing wage: $66.33 per hour (wage + fringe paid in cash) for hours worked on site at prevailing wage projects. The rate is set by the project’s county.
• Overtime: Time and a half for hours over 40 in a week. Some projects also pay time and a half on Saturdays and double time on Sundays.

Currently, our Colorado projects are prevailing wage work. Pay is based on each project’s type and location.

Per Diem

• $65–$150 per day while on a travel assignment, based on the project’s location and lodging costs.

Travel

• Two paid travel days per rotation, paid at base wage for up to 8 hours per day.
• If you fly, GenPro pays for your round-trip airfare.

Schedule

• Traveling position on a 10 days on / 4 days off rotation, with a steady year-round project pipeline.
• Overtime and advancement to Foreman/Lead opportunities.

Benefits

Currently, GenPro offers medical, dental, and vision coverage and pays 100% of medical premiums for you and your family after 4 years. 401(k) with up to 4% company match; eligibility for contributions and the match begins after 12 months of service. Company-paid life insurance and long-term disability, EAP, and supplemental coverage options. Employees start earning paid time off (PTO) for vacation and sick leave on day one and can use it after 90 days of employment, with 80 hours (10 days) earned in the first year, plus 7.5 paid holidays and one floating holiday each year. Benefits are in addition to hourly pay.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Project Execution

• Lead and supervise teams of apprentice and journeyman electricians on commercial, industrial, and renewable energy construction, maintenance, and service projects.
• Lead by example by working alongside crew members while providing coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance.
• Coordinate daily work activities, assign tasks, and effectively manage job schedules to meet project deadlines.
• Communicate professionally with project managers, customers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure successful project execution.

Electrical Installation & Maintenance

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair photovoltaic (PV) solar systems, electrical controls, LED lighting, and other commercial and industrial electrical systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to ensure accurate installations.
• Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot electrical wiring, conduit, cable, panels, equipment, and associated electrical components.
• Perform project layout, planning, and preparation for electrical, PV solar, and lighting installations.
• Complete electrical work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of workmanship.

Code Compliance & Quality

• Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local codes.
• Perform work in accordance with company quality standards, project specifications, and customer expectations.
• Complete required inspections, documentation, reports, and project records accurately and on time.

Materials & Equipment

• Load, unload, transport, organize, and maintain tools, equipment, and materials at project sites.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, aerial lifts, forklifts, heavy equipment, and other construction equipment as authorized and required.
• Inspect and maintain company tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Safety

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by following company safety policies and ensuring all crew members do the same.
• Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites that support safe and efficient operations.
• Identify and report safety hazards and participate in corrective actions to minimize workplace risks.

General Responsibilities

• Travel to project sites and work overtime, weekends, or extended hours as required to meet project schedules.
• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support company operations and project success.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Travel Requirements: This position supports project sites in Northern Colorado, including Weld County, Greeley, Windsor, Fort Collins, and Loveland, and may include extended overnight stays. Employees may also be required to travel to other GenPro project locations based on business needs. Employees are responsible for arranging and paying for their own lodging and accommodations, supported by the daily per diem, unless otherwise specified for a particular project.
• Electricians are required to have personal electrical tools on job sites. 

EDUCATION / CREDENTIALS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Journeyman Electrician License required.
• Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• Prior electrical experience or technical school degree, desired.
• Experience in renewable energy is desired, not required.
