Sonographer, Fetal Medicine, Full Time, First Shift

Job Description The Sonographer assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by producing diagnostic images of various organs and structures of the human body using high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound). Ultrasound is a highly operator-dependent modality; this position requires an advanced understanding of anatomy and vascular physiology. Location Cincinnati, OH, United States Qualifications Minimum: Graduate of an ultrasonography program or completion of an appropriate education pathway. Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Ultrasonography, Radiology, Biological Sciences, or a relevant health science field. Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers (ARDMS), American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Current BLS Certification. Minimum Required: Registry eligible new graduate of a sonography or radiology program. Preferred: 1 year clinical experience as a registered sonographer. Responsibilities Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with established protocols. Perform biopsies and other interventional ultrasound procedures; rotate weekends and on call, responding within 45 minutes for call procedures. Review patient histories, study appropriateness, and completeness; explain procedures to patients. Select and operate complex ultrasound equipment; regulate technical factors and review studies for diagnostic acceptability. Provide routine patient care, practice aseptic and sterile technique, administer CPR or other emergency procedures when needed. Maintain appropriate records and supplies. Instruct students in methods and procedures. Participate in continuing education activities related to Diagnostic Ultrasound and its subspecialties. Demonstrate and maintain skills in caring for specific age groups such as geriatric and neonatal patients. Perform evaluative equipment tests; participate in or be responsible for quality control programs. Give clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment and involve family or guardian in assessment and continuing care. Identify physical limitations of the patient and deploy interventions when necessary. Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral health problems, signs or symptoms of abuse or neglect, and specific psychological or cultural needs.
