Learn more about Lockheed Martin’s comprehensive benefits package Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications. May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.Basic Qualifications•Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience working with non- metallic materials such as sealants, adhesives, polymers, and composite systems.•Measurable history of results improving process, selecting materials, developing and qualifying manufacturing processes to include close collaboration with ancillary teams (e.g., machine shop, finishing, quality assurance).•Demonstrated expertise in material property testing, ASTM standards (e.g., ASTM D638, D256) and systematic failure analysis techniques.Desired Skills•Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Materials Science & Engineering (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). •Experience in Autoclave/ Heat Treatment cure cycle development; winding, extrusion and layup experience• Ability to setup/transition new equipment and new manufacturing technologies. • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and detailed specifications.• Create, design and implement material and process. specifications, build reports, and create detailed test plans.• Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations.• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and integration processes.Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
