PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing exceptional patient care in a stepdown unit, with a focus on a variety of adult medical conditions.

Shift Information

• Shift: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Patient Capacity: 40 beds with an average daily census of 24
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
• Common Diagnoses/Patient Types:
  • Cardiac med/surg
  • Dialysis
  • Cancer diagnosis
  • Vascular issues
  • Sepsis
  • Adult respiratory conditions
  • Stroke management
  • Post-stent and post-pacer placement
  • Renal failure

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the PCU
• Titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin
• Read and interpret telemetry strips
• Assist with high flow respiratory equipment as needed
• Engage with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds, primarily Hispanic and Somalian populations

Qualifications

• Must possess current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• 2 years of PCU or relevant nursing experience required
• Competency in arterial line management is necessary
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to feedback

Scheduling and Requirements

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period
• Floating Requirement: May float to MedSurg or ICU to care for PCU acuity patients
• Additional time off (RTO) requests must be provided upfront

Dress Code

Scrub color is navy blue.

Orientation

• Unit-specific orientation: 1 day
