Purpose/Function

Under the supervision of the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor, the Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for assisting individuals in developing and implementing person-centered recovery plans that promote increased functioning, independence, and successful community integration. The recovery support specialist provides comprehensive, recovery-oriented services designed to support clients in achieving their personal goals while enhancing their quality of life.

Major Responsibilities

• Provide recovery-oriented services through individual, group, and family interventions that support each client's treatment and recovery goals.
• Develop and maintain individualized, person-centered recovery plans that include measurable goals, objectives, and interventions.
• Assist clients in establishing and maintaining connections with essential community resources, including medical, social, vocational, educational, and residential services.
• Encourage client participation in meaningful activities that foster independence, self-confidence, and community involvement.
• Support clients in making informed decisions regarding housing, employment, education, and other community living opportunities that align with their personal preferences and recovery goals.
• Collaborate with clients to identify the skills and supports necessary to achieve successful community functioning.
• Provide skill-building interventions to address identified functional deficits and enhance independent living abilities.
• Assist clients in developing and implementing action plans that promote the effective use of newly acquired skills in community settings.
• Meet Community Support Program (CSP) Fidelity standards, including required service hours, client contacts, and community-based service delivery.
• Identify systemic barriers impacting client care and communicate advocacy needs to the Program Director.
• Effectively organize and prioritize workload to meet productivity standards established by the Clinical Supervisor of Specialty Programs.
• Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and best practices while representing the program professionally to clients, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders.
• Participate in agency-sponsored trainings and professional development opportunities to maintain and enhance job-related knowledge and competencies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of client contacts, progress, functioning, and overall status in accordance with agency, state, and regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor of Specialty Programs.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of one year of experience, or equivalent experience, working with individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Demonstrated ability and commitment to working collaboratively with clients, families, significant others, and community service providers using a recovery-oriented, person-centered approach.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation required.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to meet client and program needs.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and community settings. The office environment includes the routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers, photocopiers, filing systems, and other administrative tools. Community-based responsibilities require regular travel to client homes, community agencies, healthcare providers, and other service locations. Frequent interaction with clients, families, and community partners is expected. The work environment may vary depending on service location and client needs, with noise levels ranging from low to moderate in office settings and variable within the community.
