Medical Assistant

Reporting to the Clinic Manager – LVN, the Medical Assistant will work with a team of clinical providers, front- and back-office staff, as well as AARC Resource and pharmacy personnel. The Medical Assistant provides support to the Medical Director, contract physicians, mid-level providers, and staff LVN.

Duties:

• Rooming of patients, taking of vital signs
• Preparation of room stocking, for procedures and room clean-up
• Administration of vaccinations and injections
• Assist in monitoring exam room and office supplies for restocking
• Facilitate flow in keeping exam rooms full and ensuring medical providers are on schedule
• Assisting clinic nurse, physician assistant and physician with procedures
• Accurately documents clinical findings to Clinic Manager - LVN and/or physician
• Performs patient dismissals and participates in patient teaching utilizing physician guidelines and/or patient information handouts. Ensures patient understanding and documents thoroughly
• Prepare and submit internal and external referrals to various specialties as needed, as per provider's order and/or Standards of Care
• Disinfecting clinical equipment and exam rooms
• Other duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications:

• Proficient in both clinical and administrative medical assisting tasks
• Knowledge of LGBTQ+ affirming care practices
• Strong patient communication and customer service skills
• Experience with EHR systems and medical documentation
• Knowledge of infection control and clinical procedures
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and culturally competent care
• Current Texas certification as Medical Assistant
• Training in non-violent crisis intervention/management of aggressive behavior, CPR, first aid

Work Schedule:

• Regular schedule Monday to Friday 8AM - 4:30PM

• All Agency locations, In person.
