Direct Support Professional

Direct Support Professional (DSP)The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care, supervision, and skill-building support to individuals with disabilities and older adults receiving Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS). DSPs support individuals in maintaining health, safety, independence, and community integration in accordance with individualized service plans.This position operates under Minnesota DHS 245D regulations and requires strict adherence to company policies, service plans, and documentation standards.Services are provided according to the individual's approved service plan and authorized service hours.Essential Job DutiesAssist individuals with dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, mobility, and eating as outlined in service plans.Promote dignity, privacy, and independence at all timesProvide cueing, reminders, and hands-on assistance to support daily living skills.Encourage independence based on individual abilities and goalsMonitor individuals for changes in behavior, health, or safety concerns.Follow emergency procedures and incident reporting requirements.Implement positive support strategies as trained.Assist with light housekeeping, meal preparation, organization, and maintaining a safe environment.Support routines consistent with the individual's service planSupport participation in community activities, appointments, and social outingsAssist with transportation when authorized and requiredComplete, accurate, and timely documentation of services providedReport incidents, concerns, or changes promptly according to company policy and DHS requirementsDSPs scheduled for overnight or Night Supervision shifts may be required to:Remain awake and alert for the duration of the shift.Provide active supervision and observation to ensure individual safety.Assist with nighttime mobility, toileting, reassurance, or care needs.Monitor health and behavioral concerns.Document overnight supports, observations, and incidentsNight Supervision services support individuals with disabilities, cognitive needs, medical complexity, or nighttime vulnerability to ensure continuity of care.RequirementsMust be at least 18 years of ageAbility to work independently and follow written service plansStrong communication and documentation skillsCompassionate, reliable, and committed to person-centered careAbility to maintain confidentiality and professional boundariesMust successfully pass DHS NetStudy 2.0 background checkValid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required, depending on client assignmentPreferred QualificationsPrior experience supporting individuals with disabilities or older adultsExperience in HCBS, IHS, ICLS, PCA, or DSP rolesAbility to work overnight or weekend shifts(No prior waiver experience required — paid training provided.)Salary Description $16.00-$21.00
