Oracle Developer

Oracle Developer | Location: Remote | Contract | Hourly Pay Range: $50-$70

Our client in Augusta, ME is seeking a highly skilled Oracle Developer to lead the development, maintenance, and optimization of complex Oracle database applications and data-processing solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in application development, database programming, and data warehousing, supporting critical data loads and ensuring data quality in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize complex Oracle database applications and data-processing solutions.
• Monitor and validate scheduled and ad hoc data loads, reconciling source and target results.
• Investigate production incidents, analyze application, database, ETL, and data warehouse behavior, and implement corrective actions.
• Write, analyze, and optimize complex SQL queries and PL/SQL code to improve performance and efficiency.
• Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks, including query optimization and indexing opportunities.
• Translate business needs and operational concerns into technical requirements and implement effective solutions.
• Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans, including unit, integration, system, regression, and data validation tests.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for system, program, operational, and support activities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to review system and database designs, source code, and deployment procedures.
• Support production SQL, PL/SQL, ETL, and data warehouse workloads, managing data loads, incident investigations, and data validation.
• Communicate technical findings, risks, and resolution strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Manage assigned tasks independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of hands-on experience with Oracle databases, SQL, and PL/SQL.
• Proven expertise in Oracle relational database technologies and PL/SQL development, including packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and stored units.
• Experience writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex SQL queries and execution plans.
• Proficiency with Oracle SQL Developer or similar diagnostic tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for existing application code and database performance issues.
• Experience with ETL processing, data transformation, and batch data loads.
• Knowledge of data warehouse concepts, including source-to-target mappings, data reconciliation, and reporting dependencies.
• Experience supporting production workloads, incident resolution, and data quality validation.
• Ability to produce secure, maintainable, and well-documented code.

• Ability to work independently with sound technical judgment.
• Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with source-code management and controlled deployment practices.
