Student IT Technician

The Student IT Technician will work as part of a team supporting faculty, staff, and visitors by assisting them in the use of computers, AV equipment, software, and various other technologies in the Department of Political Science. The Student IT Technician will help execute the day-to-day operations and long-term projects of the Department of Political Science and help keep the department running smoothly and efficiently. The Student IT Technician will report to the Political Science Business Manager. Job Duties Provide end-user technology support. Configure and install computer workstation systems. Assist with computers, copiers, printers, and other devices. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in offices and conference rooms. Register devices to use the university’s network. Ensure systems have latest software and security updates. Maintain Department IT inventory records. Support Political Science faculty and staff with technical questions and concerns. Other Duties Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner; direct them to the right location. Print out documents when needed. Edit, compile, and mail out Monthly Gift Donation letters. Sort and maintain Department keys. Retrieve mail/packages from mailroom and send outgoing mail out. Upload and organize course syllabi. Skills Required Self-motivated with the ability to work well with others and assist with computer-related questions and challenges. Excellent customer service and the ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, and guests. Must be able to work in a professional manner and with minimal supervision at times.
