Chief Financial Officer

The client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to oversee all accounting functions for a community bank serving the Hartford, CT area. This is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding the organization’s financial strategy toward growth and expansion, with involvement in financial forecasting and budgeting in support of the Executive Team. The CFO will direct enterprise-wide financial activities, including reporting, planning, supervision, and investments. Key responsibilities include preparing and directing financial statements, annual budgets, business activity reports, and forecasts, as well as ensuring appropriate tax return preparation through internal processes or coordination with outside accountants. The role includes participation in the bank’s ALCO committee as a member or Chair, developing internal control policies and procedures, and monitoring financial activity such as reserve levels to meet legal and regulatory requirements. The CFO will oversee audits and compliance-related review of accounts and financial transactions, and will supervise teams handling financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting. The ideal candidate will bring a Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting, with a Master’s degree preferred, and a CPA designation preferred. The role is expected to require four or more years of related experience and/or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). The client will look for strong proficiency with common PC software, excellent attention to detail and accuracy, effective verbal and written communication, and the ability to work under pressure, prioritize, meet deadlines, and resolve complex financial issues, while also leading training and development in budgeting and financial management.
