Compensation: $43/hr-$48/hr

Work Schedule: M-F, 9-5

Job Description:

Addison Group is seeking a Senior Accountant / Payroll Specialist to join a growing organization in the Northern Virginia area. This position will support both accounting operations and full-cycle payroll processing while partnering closely with leadership and cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger experience, advanced payroll knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support month-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure financial accuracy and compliance
• Process full-cycle semi-monthly payroll for a multi-state employee population
• Review employee timesheets and process payroll adjustments as needed
• Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Coordinate payroll-related employee changes including new hires, terminations, benefits deductions, and garnishments
• Respond to payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
• Prepare account reconciliations and support monthly financial analysis
• Assist with audits and support documentation requests from external auditors
• Support internal controls, accounting procedures, and process improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure accurate employee and payroll records

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of accounting and full-cycle payroll experience
• 5+ years of Deltek Costpoint experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll regulations, and financial reporting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP/payroll systems
• Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paycom, iSolved, or similar platforms preferred
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally
• Experience in a fast-paced environment preferred
• Government contracting experience strongly preferred
