Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience required License: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification Must-Have: - Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Utilizes patient education materials relevant to patient population with assistance. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient, family, and caregivers. Recognizes factors affecting the ability to learn and assesses developmental levels of patients. Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revising the plan of care. Participates in discussions with interdisciplinary team members regarding evaluation of patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care. Performs bedside point of care testing as required for patient care. Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care. Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs. Consults with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues and unusual teaching needs. Develops goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations with assistance. Achieves goals and objectives within identified time frames or renegotiates with supervisor. Participates in unit goals and performance improvement activities. Effectively uses communication systems and promotes cost-effective care. Provides feedback to coworkers and is aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare. Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all. Identifies priorities for care by recognizing data from complex situations. Synthesizes assessment data into a meaningful whole prior to communication with others. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. Develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for patient needs. Collaborates with patients and families to prepare or update the plan of care. Utilizes available multidisciplinary resources in planning care. Addresses cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning. Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. Reads journals containing studies or articles applicable to practice and brings ideas to staff for assessment of applicability.
