Wage: $104,000.00 to $135,200.00 - PT/OT/SLP Annually

Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) is to provide the day-to-day activities in the rehabilitation department of an assigned facility. This includes but is not limited to the delivery of direct and indirect services to inpatients and outpatients, supervision of all therapy personnel, interview and recommending new hires, and training of all therapy personnel. The DOR is responsible for the implementation of new programs to meet the needs of the facility and the residents. The DOR is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary to carry out all assigned duties.  Management duties include but are not limited to supervising at least 2 FTE staff.  The DOR is responsible for adhering to discipline specific patient care requirements. 

Key Responsibilities

• Directly supervises and guides all therapy personnel in an assigned facility, including, but not limited to, licensed, registered, certified therapists, assistants, aides, and students.
• Daily scheduling for the department staff to meet the needs of the facility.
• Providing direct care and working with supervisor to determine appropriate caseload in tandem with management responsibilities.
• Assures that the rehabilitation needs of the residents are met.
• Periodically reviews the therapy services offered and provide updates to meet the standards of the changing environment.
• Represents the rehabilitation department during clinical meetings (PDPM, Medicare, Kaiser or other managed care providers).
• Adherence to all regulatory standards as they pertain to the delivery of rehabilitation services.
• Ensures that all clinical documentation is complete and timely, and accurately reflects the services provided.
• Completes chart audits to ensure compliance as required.
• Coordinates denials management activities of the department to ensure that claims are timely and/or appeals timely and in accordance with company procedure.
• Meets and or exceeds the productivity standards established with supervisor.
• Ensures that the services delivered are of the highest quality and meet all standards of practice. Consistently demonstrates sound judgment in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and follow-up of resident therapy programs.
• Implement new treatment programs.
• Monitors treatment programs for outcomes and adjust plans of care in accordance.
• Assures that the department follows the established policies and procedures of the facility and the company.
• Reviews timecards upon facility request for rehab department personnel.
• Coordinates schedule to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency of self and staff. Develops efficient time management strategies such that requirements for patient care planning and other facility-based meetings are covered. Attend in-service meetings and facility meetings as required.
• Works with Recruiters and Area Rehab Directors to make hiring (and termination) decisions for the rehab department.
• Provides overall general department management to include equipment and supplies management, clinical and billing documentation compliance, rehabilitation care compliance (screening, long term care resident), quality assurance, and daily staffing management
• Serves as MDS liaison for communication, rehab data points, and assessment period data control. Communicates/interacts with facility personnel to ensure continued satisfaction with delivery of care. Confers formally and informally with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the resident.
• Adheres to all company policies and implements directives/policies as developed for Avamere Rehab and monitors staff adherence.
• Collaborate with the Administrator and DNS to provide efficient rehab services
• Generate special reports/data as needed to assist the Avamere Rehab management team in assessing the efficiency of operations.
• Investigates, follows-up, and assists in the resolution of staff, service, and patient related issues.
• Provides and supports staff and caregiver education to the members of the resident’s care team
• Maintains safe and clean work area and adheres to facility/company safety standards including compliance with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
• Performs other duties as assigned.   

Associate Responsibilities

• Provides evaluation input on department employees and is instrumental in building relationships with the local hospitals and referral sites.
• Attends and participates in facility and company meetings as agreed upon by the facility and approved by the supervisor.
• Provides in-services as requested regarding safe work practices with emphasis on good body mechanics, safety, and judgment to minimize work related injuries.
• Provides rehabilitation orientation for new department personnel, ensures all paperwork is completed in a timely manner and distributed to the appropriate human resources personnel/facility contact.
• Completes billing documentation timely and ensures it accurately reflects services provided in accordance with company standards.
• Provides recommendations to supervisor on opportunities to improve rehab operations and services provided.
• Identifies personal areas of need for development, training, and continuing education in conjunction with supervisor.
• Identifies potential leaders in the company as matched with specific job requirements Identifies new sources of business and contacts.
• Promotes a positive attitude to staff, within staff, and to community regarding the company, its mission statement, values, and goals.

Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an approved curriculum in Physical Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Assistant or Speech Language Pathology.
• Able to practice unencumbered.
• Must maintain and have an active CPR/BLS during employment.
• In good standing with all regulatory agencies and licensing boards.
• Minimum 1-year clinical experience with preference in skilled nursing

Experience

• Working knowledge of Medicare and other payer sources.
• Full knowledge of residents’ rights.
• Exudes professionalism in presentation.
• Ability to multitask.
