Job Description
Acute Travel Registered Nurse (RN): Med/Surg

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Acute Travel Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Medical/Surgical care. This position involves providing high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Position Information

• Facility Type: Specialty care hospital
• Unit: Acute Medical/Surgical
• Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends
• Patient Ratios: 5:1 to 6:1
• Electronic Health Records: Cerner

Qualifications

• Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Licensure: Current Michigan RN license required
• Certifications: ACLS certification required
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in a Medical/Surgical setting

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in accordance with professional standards and guidelines.
• Utilize critical thinking skills and decisive judgment to manage patient care.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision while handling stressful situations appropriately.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health records system.
• Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures, as well as professional conduct standards.

Unit Information

• Trauma Level: 2
• Common Patient Populations: Adults and geriatrics (ages 18 - 125)
• Equipment Utilized: Telemetry monitors, Baxter IV pumps, Kangaroo pumps, bladder scanners, Dynamaps

Dress Code

• Scrub color: Galaxy Blue (Navy also acceptable)
• Maintain clean and professional appearance; long fingernails and excessive jewelry are not permitted. Tattoos that may be considered offensive should be covered.

Attendance Policy

Please note that attendance is critical. The following procedures will apply:

• Second Absence: A formal warning will be issued.
• Third Absence: Contract termination may occur unless prior agreement is made with unit leadership.
• All absences must be made up to maintain contracted hours.
