- HIM SpecialistPortland, ME - Portland, ME 04102## OverviewSalary Range$18.00 - $23.00 Hourly## Description### ### **About the Role:****Orthopaedic Associates of Maine** is seeking a **detail-oriented Health Information Management Specialist** to support the management, accuracy, and security of patient health information. In this role, you'll process medical record requests, maintain electronic records, and help ensure compliance with privacy regulations while providing excellent service to patients and providers.### **What You'll Do:*** Process **release of information requests** in accordance with HIPAA guidelines* Review patient records for **accuracy and completeness*** Scan, index, and maintain documents within the **electronic medical record (EMR)*** Manage electronic fax folders and outgoing referrals* Assist patients with medical record requests* Handle incoming departmental phone calls and mail* Identify and report documentation or scanning errors* Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and coworkers* Support departmental projects and other administrative tasks as needed##### Qualifications### **What You Bring:*** **High school diploma or GED*** **2+ years of experience** in a medical office, hospital, or healthcare setting preferred* Knowledge of **medical terminology** and medical records processes* Understanding of **HIPAA regulations** and patient privacy requirements* Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills* Ability to handle **confidential information** with discretion* Proficiency with computers and electronic medical record systems* Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks### **Why Orthopaedic Associates of Maine?*** **Supportive, mission-driven team*** **Competitive pay and benefits package*** **Daytime schedule with no overnights or weekends*** **Collaborative environment focused on exceptional patient care**Join a team that values accuracy, professionalism, and outstanding patient service while supporting high-quality orthopedic care across Maine.
