Environmental Services Technician – Day Shift – Full Time – Primary Location: Shea Medical Center. New Hire Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $2,500. Shift hours: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM. Job Summary The Environmental Services Technician performs a variety of heavy cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the hospital. They perform cleaning and floor refinishing functions following established protocols to achieve quality standards and facility objectives; operate a variety of floor care equipment and other necessary tools, products and supplies; and gather and dispose of trash and waste materials. Essential Functions Places linen on distribution carts. Folds and stages scrub sets for stocking in Scrub Ex machines. Cleans and organizes linen room. Fills requisitions for housekeeping supplies, delivers and replenishes nursing unit supply closets. Stages Housekeeper carts with supplies, chemicals and mops. Delivers and stocks supplies in designated storage areas. Dusts and mops floors and corridors as assigned. Inspects cleaning equipment and performs scheduled preventative maintenance. Participates in patient safety rounding. Monitors patients for signs of distress and alerts nursing personnel when intervention or clinical monitoring is required. Maintains hard surface floors by following the correct processes for daily and periodical floor care. Evaluates required processes to maintain hard surface floors and ensure they meet organizational standards. Follows correct stripping and refinishing procedures for hard surface floors. Maintains soft surface floors (carpet) by following the correct processes for daily and periodical carpet care. Evaluates required processes to maintain carpets. Is knowledgeable about spotting techniques to maintain floors to organizational standards. Cleans assigned patient/non‑patient areas and equipment daily according to a 7‑Step or 10‑Step cleaning procedure, as determined by the department. Maintains a 90% or higher standard on quality inspections for all cleaning activities. Clean/sanitizes/makes beds on transfers and discharges promptly, meeting a 90% standard on quality inspections. Transports regular waste, medical waste, and linen to appropriate collection sites from patient rooms; collects and transports to designated pickup areas as required. Keeps soiled utility rooms and waste carts clean at all times. Wears personal protection equipment (PPE) while performing cleaning responsibilities or transporting waste. Education High School Diploma or GED – Preferred. Less than High School – Required. Experience 12 to 24 months – Preferred. Licenses and Certifications Driver License – Required; for positions that require driving HonorHealth vehicles, the incumbent must have a clean driving record as defined by HonorHealth Network Driver Qualification Policy Q‑359, have a valid Arizona driver's license, provide an MVR, and complete quarterly defensive driving training and certification.
