ADMIN ARCHITECT (NON MGRL) M-1 - 1000A
Only candidates who are permanent in the Administrative Architect title or those who are reachable on the DDC promotional list (exam #6501) or the open‑competitive list (exam #6001) may apply. If you do not meet the previously mentioned civil service criteria, you will not be considered for an interview. Responsibilities The Program Manager will work with the Deputy Director of Advanced Capital Planning to support sponsor agencies in planning their capital needs and addressing citywide strategic goals for public buildings, including, but not limited to: Building Conditions Accessibility Coastal and stormwater resiliency Energy use reduction and decarbonization Duties include liaising and coordinating between technical teams, program teams, and sponsor agencies to assist with early capital strategic planning and supporting them on informative decision making. Coordinate and develop an understanding of each agency’s programming, long‑term goals, and capital needs for their portfolio, and citywide initiatives for sustainability and resiliency as a result of technical analysis provided. Coordinate with program unit staff to advise them in the preparation of future funding requests. Perform post‑occupancy evaluations (POEs) and surveys, which solicit feedback and lessons learned from end users of recently completed projects. POEs also include analysis on building operations, maintenance, energy and water use, user satisfaction, and many additional factors that will inform future project needs. Minimum Qualifications A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required. In addition, candidates must have six (6) years of full‑time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect. All candidates must be currently authorized to work full‑time in the United States. Candidates must have proper work authorization when an employment offer is made. Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education‑recognized accredited institution. Credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service (see Preferred Skills Thorough understanding of current architectural/engineering design principles and practices, the NYC Building Codes, and the NYC Energy Code General building design, construction, project management, and project delivery methodologies Excellent management skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Prior experience in a managerial, administrative, or supervisory position AutoCAD required; BIM preferred; LEED AP preferred Valid motor vehicle driver’s license required 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55‑a Program.
