Laboratory Assistant

Laboratory AssistantOur Wilmington, NC laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join their team! The Laboratory Assistant will complete a wide variety of support tasks for the Lab Technicians and Lab Analysts, ensuring best quality by following SGS' SOPs. The Laboratory Assistant works independently and as part of a team to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks. The Laboratory Assistant always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.Job functions:Signs out supplies from supply room.Maintains adequate supply of accessories, consumables, chemicals, etc. in each lab, to ensure efficiency of production work.Disposes of samples after the appropriate retention period.Documents in LIMS and disposes of expired/depleted chemicals.Assembles non-treated in-house media.Decontaminates/cleans laboratory glassware, containers, accessories, etc., following SOPs.Performs administrative tasks, as needed.Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.Performs other duties as required.Qualifications:High school diploma (Required)HS diploma and 1-2 years of general work experience (Preferred)Proficient English language skills (Required)Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)Basic computer skills (Required)Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lb on a frequent basis (Required)SGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetics, status as a protected veteran, or any other characteristics protected by law.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
