The Cargo Flow Analyst role supports vessel allocation optimization and operational cost reduction across the organization. Position Summary The position is responsible for vessel allocation optimization, monitoring booking activity, forecasting, and various reporting activities to reduce operational costs. Functions & Duties Optimize all available allocations by planning vessels in coordination with Trade, Ops, Logistics, and other departments to maximize space and weight usage. Monitor booking activity and cargo materialization to avoid overbooking and rolling cargo on dock; provide breakdowns to Trade Management and suggest adjustments. Forecast loading figures for cargo and empty equipment in collaboration with Trade and Logistics. Communicate with HO Ops Planners and provide vessel simulations to ensure load lists do not compromise stability. Control CMA‑CGM operated vessels and utilize unused space/weight. Coordinate empty planning with the Equipment Department to achieve 100% TEU allocation. Calculate and report daily‑weekly loading forecasts for US ports based on customer and trade data. Prepare daily, weekly, and ad‑hoc reports (booking forecast, port omissions, blank sailings, idle cargo, etc.). Respond to Trade and other teams’ queries about space approvals, routing solutions, transit times, and vessel schedules. Maintain and update COA allocations in the specialized tool to set proper booking limits. Participate in OPEX reduction initiatives and provide timely reports on idle cargo and early sailings. Proactively suggest process improvements and business opportunities. Perform miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Basic Microsoft Outlook skills Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, V‑lookups, etc.) Excellent analytical, multitasking, and prioritization skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure Logical reasoning for problem solving and decision making Clear written and oral communication Ownership of assigned services and operational management Teamwork and dynamic environment adaptability Qualifications Education: Required high school diploma or GED; preferred bachelor’s degree. Experience: 1–3 years general experience; 1–2 years preferred; knowledge of global geography and shipping options. Experience with large databases and generating reports.
