Medical Account Auditor

The Senior Accountant will support the Property & Casualty premium accounting. It's a fantastic role for a strong performer who is looking to greatly expand their knowledge of ledgers, consolidation, and SEC/GAAP/statutory financial reporting within the P&C segment of an insurance company. We seek an analytical and detail-oriented professional to assist with a wide range of monthly, quarterly and annual P&C accounting functions associated with Kemper’s financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong foundational accounting knowledge, including debits and credits, journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts receivable, and month-end reporting. This person must be comfortable analyzing data, identifying when results do not look right, investigating discrepancies, and handling unusual transactions in systems that may not always operate perfectly. Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations Consolidate company operating information for internal and external financial reporting Work with internal and external auditors and provide necessary support Actively identify, lead, manage, and complete process improvement projects Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements Prepare and/or review quarterly statutory-basis financial statements BA/BS degree in Accounting ~3-5 years of insurance industry or public accounting experience. ~ CPA or CPA candidate preferred ~ Familiarity with US GAAP, familiarity with statutory accounting principles is a plus ~ Proficiency in MS Office products - intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel ~ Experience in Workday and Blackline a strong plus ~ Ability to identify, analyze and solve accounting issues. ~ Effective writing skills and strong attention to detail required. ~ All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, disability status or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate.
