Travel Stepdown Requirements

• 2+ years of recent Stepdown experience.

Kindred Hospital St. Louis South is a long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) not a short-stay acute hospital a roughly 89-bed specialty hospital (part of ScionHealth) that cares for medically complex patients needing an extended recovery, typically after an ICU stay. For nurses, the work centers on ventilator and respiratory management, complex wound care, and stabilizing chronically critically ill patients over longer lengths of stay. There is no emergency department, operating room, cath lab, or trauma service the role here is complex/critical-care and chronic-critical-illness focused, not fast-turnover acute.

• Specializes in medically complex, post-ICU patients ventilator management and weaning, respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke recovery, and congestive heart failure. Read More
• Holds Joint Commission Certification in Respiratory Failure, with 24/7 physician or physician-extender coverage and around-the-clock respiratory therapy.
• Operates an intensive care unit for patients in critical condition, alongside long-length-of-stay medical/telemetry care.
• Delivers dialysis, IV antibiotic therapy, and pain management within an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and respiratory and rehabilitation therapists.
• Part of ScionHealth (formerly Kindred Healthcare); offers no emergency, surgical, or trauma services a fit for nurses who want chronic-critical-care, ventilator, and wound experience rather than a conventional acute floor.
