About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Critical thinking skills EKG rhythm interpretation experience Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips Peripheral IV skills Experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems Experience with stroke and post-cardiac catheterization care Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes Description: The unit has 34 beds and a patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights. Staffing includes three techs when full and two techs when full in adjacent units. The unit is equipped with bipaps, high flow oxygen, vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and cardiac drips. Wound vacs are utilized in conjunction with wound care. The documentation system in use is Meditech. Scheduling requires working every other weekend, with three 12-hour shifts per week. Float policies may require movement between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors. Patient experience standards include hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights. AIDET must be utilized, and communication boards must be updated regularly. Advanced skills include ACLS certification. Procedures performed on the unit include peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and chest tube insertions. Candidates should be familiar with central line dressing changes and troubleshooting wound vacs. The unit offers self-scheduling and emphasizes teamwork and a family-like culture. Most staff members who travel tend to extend their assignments after their initial contract.
