Senior AWS Systems Engineer Job Family: Systems Engineering | Travel Required: Up to 10% | Clearance Required: Ability to Obtain Public Trust. What You Will Do Design, build, configure, and implement enterprise AWS environments supporting critical business and mission workloads. Develop AWS infrastructure across networking, security, compute, storage, monitoring, logging, resiliency, and backup/recovery services. Assess existing infrastructure, applications, databases, and integrations to identify modernization opportunities and migration approaches. Define target‑state cloud architectures and lead implementation across hybrid and on‑premises environments. Execute migration activities including application/data migration, environment readiness, cutover planning, validation, and operational transition. Design and implement secure multi‑account and multi‑tenant AWS environments using best practices for segmentation, access control, encryption, monitoring, and governance. Design and optimize enterprise data architectures and pipelines across AWS, including data models, integration frameworks, ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions. Support enterprise data solutions involving relational databases, AWS RDS, object storage, data migration, protection, backup, recovery, and performance optimization. Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, application development, data management, and operations teams to implement technical solutions that satisfy business and compliance requirements. Produce solution designs, implementation guides, migration runbooks, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and support documentation. Lead technical working sessions to resolve architecture decisions, migration challenges, integration requirements, and infrastructure dependencies. Support cloud operations, disaster recovery, high availability, capacity planning, performance optimization, and operational readiness. Provide hands‑on AWS troubleshooting, engineering support, implementation, and production issue resolution. What You Will Need U.S. Citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication prior to onboarding. Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum 8 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise IT systems. Minimum 5 years of hands‑on AWS engineering and architecture experience. Recent hands‑on AWS engineering experience deploying, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise cloud environments, not just architecture roles. Experience in senior cloud engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, cloud architecture, or solutions architecture roles. Strong experience with core AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, EBS/EFS, RDS, Elastic Load Balancing, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, backup/disaster recovery services. Experience designing and supporting multi‑account, multi‑environment, or multi‑tenant cloud environments. Experience planning and executing cloud modernization and migration initiatives. Strong database and data platform experience including SQL-based systems, relational databases, data migration, and data lifecycle management. Familiarity with enterprise data integration, reporting, compliance, audit, or analytics-supporting architectures. Experience supporting federal compliance environments, including NIST800‑53, RMF, STIGs, ATO processes, continuous monitoring, audit, and security controls. Experience supporting hybrid, secured, restricted, or enclave environments. Strong knowledge of Linux, Windows, enterprise networking, DNS, firewalls, proxies, identity federation, load balancing, monitoring, encryption, backup, and recovery. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Nice to Have Active Federal or DoD Top Secret clearance. AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, Security Specialty, Database Specialty, or Data Analytics Specialty. Experience supporting federal law enforcement, national security, intelligence, or other highly regulated government environments. Experience with AWS GovCloud. Experience with AWS Organizations, Control Tower, Service Catalog, and enterprise cloud governance frameworks. Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and CI/CD tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps. Experience with data governance, metadata management, lineage, retention policies, and secure data-sharing capabilities. Experience designing highly available architectures and disaster recovery solutions. Experience with FinOps, tagging strategies, cloud cost management, and performance optimization. Salary $130,000.00 – $216,000.00.
